Balloons and the environment

I want to have a honest, open, conversation about balloons and the environment... There is a A LOT of talk about how balloons are affecting the environment and what regulations should be put into place to prevent balloon pollution.

I can wax lyrical and say that the latex balloons that we use have no fillers or substitutes, that they are 100% natural latex, 100% biodegradable and 100% sustainable... HOWEVER these statements are not going to stop balloon pollution!

What is going to stop balloon pollution is education!

It is a fact that balloon waste does end up in waterways affecting our marine life and birds. This is largely due to the fact that the community in general are uneducated and simply release helium filled balloons after their party instead of popping, bagging and binning them.

At present, there is currently no legislation in Western Australia addressing the mass release of balloons, but why do we need legislation to force us to engage common sense and stop releasing balloons?

Oh My Balloon Bar will not provide helium balloons that will be used at any ceremony with the intention to be released.

Please, please do your part and think twice about intentionally releasing balloons. If the thought crosses your mind, just remember POP-BAG-BIN. Three, 3 letter words that could save a sea turtle or a gannet.
